The right steam cleaner attachment controls where heat, pressure and moisture go. Choosing by task—not by appearance—improves results and reduces the risk of scratching or over-wetting a surface.
Jet nozzle
A narrow jet concentrates steam into seams, corners and small gaps. It is useful for loosening residue in compatible tracks and around durable fittings. Keep it moving and avoid directing steam into electrical openings, seals or delicate joints.
Nylon detail brush
Nylon bristles add light agitation while steam softens soil. Use them on compatible durable surfaces after a hidden-area test. Replace the brush when bristles spread or trap grit.
Brass detail brush
Brass is more aggressive than nylon. It may suit selected uncoated metal surfaces, but it can scratch stainless finishes, coatings, soft metals, stone and glass. Use it only when both the surface and machine instructions permit.
Fabric tool and bonnet
A fabric tool spreads steam across a wider area. A removable bonnet helps capture soil and reduce direct contact. Check the care label, test for dye transfer and use minimal moisture. Change the bonnet when it becomes damp or dirty.
Window squeegee
The rubber edge removes condensation as steam loosens film. Use top-to-bottom strokes, wipe the blade between passes and protect moisture-sensitive frames.
Wide floor head
A floor head distributes steam through a microfiber pad. It is intended only for flooring explicitly approved for steam. Do not assume sealed hardwood, laminate or luxury vinyl is compatible—check the floor manufacturer’s guidance.
Extension tubes
Extensions improve reach for floors and selected high surfaces. Lock every connection fully before use. Avoid overhead work where hot condensation could drip toward the user.
Three habits that protect attachments
- Let tools cool before removal.
- Rinse or wipe away loosened residue after use.
- Dry completely before storage.
